Coaching Skills for Leaders

In the contemporary organization there is little focus on the development of superior and outstanding people management skills. Our leaders are expected to achieve outstanding results through their people yet little effective assistance is provided to them. As a result we see the continuation of command and control management process, which fails to respect and develop diversity, collaboration, brainstorming and the spirit and soul of the organization. Winning in the market place under these restrictions is very difficult.

Mangers need help in obtaining the best from their people. Managers need training, practice, encouragement and recognition of their people management and development skulls. Training and support for the "manager-as-coach" is essential to cultural and environmental change within organizations.

A key role of managers is to ensure that people are engaged with the company's organizational values, vision and mission. Yet Gallop research with over 1000 companies has proven that only 26% of workers are engaged with their role and what the organization stands for. Furthermore 55% of the workforce is not engaged and 19% are actively disengaged and working to undermine company values and objectives. Workforce engagement results from care, interest and respect for the individual, frequent feedback and the understanding of what is expected along with appropriate tools to do the job.

The HireNet.Work's coaching clinic is an excellent forum to provide and develop these skills and competencies for front line managers.
